Perfume and fynbos workshop,

Join us for a 5-senses double session where you will blend your very own roll-on signature perfume, smell rare natural aromatics, touch and taste edible botanicals and immerse yourself in the heady experience of some rare and locally distilled essential oils and a largely unknown treasure of South African fynbos heritage.

The first session is Creating your own Perfume with Le Rich Naturals whereby you will dive into the adventure of blending fragrances from 9 different indigenous and fynbos oils and will walk away with a personalised roll-on perfume and a DIY kit in order to experiment with newly acquired knowledge and skills at home. (90 minutes)

After a light bite and refreshing drink, both incorporating some fynbos elements, you will experience a Fynbos tea-tasting of the botanicals growing in the heart of the Winelands. Similar to a wine-tasting you will be able to distinguish between the various infusions by matching the tea with the botanical. This will be complemented by demonstrations and recipes of vinegar tinctures, infused fleur de sel (using West Coast rock salt), room mist and body scrub. You will walk away with live and edible botanicals and huge enthusiasm to try the recipes at home. (90 minutes)

About the facilitators:

Lushinka Louw (neLe Riche) is the founder of the eco-luxury brand Le Riche Naturals founded in London in 2014 and subsequently brought to South Africa in 2015. An industrial engineer by training, her cosmetic formulation skills are mainly self-taught. She loves researching how perfumes were made in the previous century and merging classic thought with the latest technology in the field of natural, eco-friendly cosmetics. She enjoys unlocking the world of natural fragrances, inspiring people to find the creative song in their heart by making their own signature blend.

Giselle Courtney is the owner of Get to the Point who creates and facilitates unique experiences. She is a valuable source of information and knowledge about indigenous plants/fynbos, its characteristics (medicinal and apothecary) and happily shares this valuable South African botanical heritage in an enlightening presentation.

This package is mobile and can be presented at any company or corporate event even a private home. Minimum participants 10 and price per head may vary.

After a light lunch and some refreshing cordial, Louise Steenkamp, the owner of Wild at Heart Cordials and Wild Bunch flowers will talk about her unusual cordials and demonstrate how you can get creative by making neck pieces and armbands from plant material.A tour of the state-of-the-art gravity flow cellar.

LE RICHE FRAGRANCE

Join Lushinka from the Le Riche Naturals range of cosmetics for an interactive workshop where you will learn how to make and take home your own room spray and perfume oil along with a wealth of knowledge and notes.

You can expect to take out the following from this 3-hour workshop

  • Background to fragrance/perfume. The power and emotion of smell and how the brain reacts.
  • Thorough background of the diversity and blending properties of essential oils.

Gin and Liqueurs

Spend a day with Edmund Oettle – organic artisan distiller – at his farm Upland, Wellington. You will be taught and guided to blend your own gin, noccino (pecan nut liqueur) an limoncello from wild harvest lemons.

Edmund will mentor you through the process, divulging some surrounding the alchemy of wine-spirit alcohol and the various natrual additives which shape its taste.

When the ‘work’ is done, a wholesome picnic lunch is served accompanied by Upland’s organic wine.
